Men's Team Pursuit Sprints To Gold

NILAI, Aug 29 (Bernama) -- Malaysia bagged the third gold medal of the day by winning the team Pursuit on the final day of track cycling competitions in the 29th SEA Games at the National Velodrome, here today.

The team comprising Eiman Firdaus Mohd Zamri, Irwandie Lakasek, Mohd Nur Aiman Mohf Zariff and Mohd Afiq Huzni Othman clinched the gold after recording a time of 4 minutes 13.159 seconds.

Individual pursuit gold medallist Eiman Firdaus was in his element to lead the riders past a stunned Thai team who had to settle for the silver while Indonesian overtook Singapore for the bronze.

In the qualifying round, Malaysian riders qualified for the final after recording the fastest time of 4 minutes 09.999 seconds which erased their previous national record of 4:14.359s clocked at the Asian Cycling Championships (ACC) in New Delhi, India.
